This main car-park will be open from 6.00am until 7.40am on race day and then closed until the last cyclist has returned for the safety of competitors. The charity group Coastal Watch will be organising the car park and collecting donations for their cause. More details can be found on their website, see the sponsors page. Additional car-parking in the village is very limited. Please do not park on the main road. Please do not park in the venue itself as spaces are limited to officials, St.Johns Ambulance and so on.
Public transport: The nearest train station is Newhaven town, which has good main line links to Lewes, Brighton, Eastbourne, Seaford and also a ferry route to Dieppe in France.

Bike racking: All the bike racking is numbered to correspond with individual race numbers. Please place your numbered sticker on your bike before entering transition. Helmets and bikes need to meet BTA standards. Visit www.britishtriathlon.org for the rules. Please keep your area tidy.
Swim
Long:: http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/united-kingdom/newhaven/434124211403529038
Short: http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/united-kingdom/newhaven%2c-piddinghoe/842622653508
No diving is allowed at anytime. You will be disqualified (DQd) if you do. The longer race is over 1.2km of open-water swimming. Wetsuits are likely to be compulsory, as is the wearing of the coloured swim hat that you will be provided with.
The water is brackish and the depth varies from a few feet to over 20 feet in depth. Start behind the pond side marker (we will point this out on the day.) Each wave will be allowed a few minutes in the water to warm up.
The swim starts in 5 waves. The first wave starts at 07.40 hours, and then at 5 minute intervals for each subsequent wave.
- Wave 1: Male Short
- Wave 2: Male Long
- Wave 3: Female Short
- Wave 4: Female Long
- Wave 5: 999 & selected others.
The route is anti-clockwise over two laps for the long course and one lap for the shorter.
At the end of the swim, the exit is marked by giant feather banners. Caution! The exit ramp will be slippery and your blood will flow out of your head and upper-body towards your legs, so be aware that you may feel a bit unease on your feet.
Additional safety information: Each wave will have a lead canoeist and a tail-end to hopefully keep you on course! A recovery vessel and beach lifeguards will also be available if any swimmer gets in trouble. If you do find yourself in need of assistance and if you can, roll onto your back and raise/wave one arm. For this reason backstroke is not permitted! Once you have had assistance then it is game over and you will no be allowed to continue.
T1
Once out of the water, please leave your swim hat in the buckets provided, as we count these to make sure that everyone is safely out of each particular wave.
There is a gravel, unmade road between transition and the waterside. It is strongly recommended that you leave some foot wear on the grass area at the edge of the waterside, next the swim exit and the clubhouse.
There is a long run to the transition area in the adjacent field. Follow the carpets to get there. Please do not discard wetsuits all over the place and keep your area tidy. Put on your cycle hat and fasten it before removing your bike (see BTF rules). Ensure your race number is on your back so we can record your time when you start the cycle section. The mounting point is about 100m from T1 will be visibly marked out, so you will need to push your bike for a while before cycling. The mount area will be marshalled to record your times and to ensure you comply with the rules. Be aware that if you are in a later wave then you may have cyclists coming towards you to.
Bike

Is predominately and out & back course over undulating terrain. The longer race is over two laps and the shorter race being over one lap. Mount on the road heading towards Newhaven.
At the far junction you will be turning right towards Lewes. The Road Traffic Act (RTA) will apply to you. Failure to follow the RTA may result in a DQ. A police officer will be at the joining point to tell you when to turn right onto the road and to assist with traffic, so be prepared to put your foot down and wait. The road you are joining is locally referred to as the C7 (why?) and is the back road from Newhaven to Lewes, passing by the villages of Rodmell and Kingston. Stay on this road until you get to the Lewes Rugby & Cricket ground turnaround point. A marshal or police officer will be here to help you turn right and start back along the route you have just done. Ignore the first road into Piddinghoe village and keep cycling back to where the 1st police officer is located. Turn left at the triangle junction, it will be sign-posted. At this point the shorter race will turn left to go back to transition, the longer race will turn right to start lap 2. Be aware of other cyclists coming towards you that are just starting the bike course. Again, go back to where the transtion area, taking care of cyclists just starting out.
It is your responsibility to count your laps and to listen to directions given during the briefing.
T2
Slow down before going into the dismount area. Dismount between the cones before entering transition and be on the look out as others as they maybe just starting out on the bike and run routes. DO NOT REMOVE YOUR HELMET UNTIL YOU HAVE SAFELY RACKED YOUR BIKE. Please wear your race number on your front so we can record your race time during the run section.
Run
http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-kingdom/newhaven/297185763369
The run route is 1 lap for the shorter race and two laps for the longer race and is clockwise in direction on off-road public footpaths. The exit of T2 is at the opposite end of the transition area to the bike exit. Join the footpath to the left, running along the lower path that follows the ponds bank. Follow the direction arrows and the turn around point and join the upper bank that follows the course of the river Ouse to Newhaven (no swimming!). At the end of the upper bank you get to a tarmac road. Do not go on the road, but double back on yourself onto the lower path. A water station is located at this point. The short race will turn left by the pond into the finish area. The longer race competitors will stay on the footpath, collecting a band and repeat the above. After the second lap come in to the finish.
There will be a water station on the run route and at the finish. Please discard cups as near to these points as possible, keeping Britain tidy and all that.
Finish
Congratulations, you made it! Now stretch, cool down and chill.
